An important part of YOW's service is to ensure that YOW members are actively involved in strategic discussions affecting services for children, young people & their families, and the needs of the sector are considered in decision making processes concerning children and young people.

In Wolverhampton, services for Children and Young People and their families are overseen by the Children & Young People's Strategic Partnership (CYPSP). The Strategic direction for the CYPSP is provided by the Children's Trust Board. The Children's Trust Board is made up of representatives of a wide range of partner agencies. It is one of 8 themed partnerships that make up the Wolverhampton Local Strategic Partnership.
