Description of Activity

Spurgeons Young Carers Project

Spurgeons Young Carers Project works with young people between the ages of 7-18 years that have a significant caring role within the family unit.

They could be caring for a parent, sibling or relative with a disability, illness, mental health issue or drug/alcohol related problems.

We offer support and the opportunity to meet up with other young carers within Wolverhampton. We run activity groups during term time and day trips during the holidays. We also offer individual work, advice and information.

We are developing links with schools to further support young carers in their education.

Child Contact Centre

A Contact manager and a team of trained staff run the centre, working within a strict confidentiality and safety policy. All supervisors are skilled and confident enough to intervene immediately if necessary and can work professionally in a planned way with vulnerable children and adults. Our contact rooms offer discreet private facilities. All rooms are child and family centered with a selection of high quality age appropriate toys and games.

Referrals can be made by a Court. CAFCASS officer, local authority or by self-referral. The referrer will need to fill in our referral form as fully as possible. We will then look at the case and carry out a risk assessment. Pre arranged visits are encouraged.
