Description of Activity

  • The objects for which Akaal is established are to promote and advance learning opportunities and positive activities for young people and local communities in Wolverhampton so they are able to aspire and achieve ad participate as active by citizens.
  • Working partnership with a range of organisations to enable young people to:
    • Develop their resilience and build skills for life.
    • Make a meaningful contribution to their communities, participate in civic life and "give back to their communities" as part of a rights and responsibilities framework.
  • Engaging local communities in learning through participatory learning techniques, recreational and sporting activities and community development approaches.
  • Working with young people, their families and local communities to shape the planning and development of positive activities for young people.
  • Working with key agencies to enable young people who are disaffected and seldom heard to have a voice in decisions that affect them and the services they receive.
  • Addressing the barriers that prevent young people from accessing learning opportunities.
  • Empowering local communities, especially BME communities, older people and Young people to participate in activities to promote their physical, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing.
  • Advancing citizenship and community development.
